Institutional Review Committee (IRC) of Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS)

An Institutional Review committee (IRC) of NNJS is an independent, autonomous ethical body constituted of eleven medical and non-medical members with diverse background & expertise. IRC NNJS was established and approved by Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) in 2018 A.D as per the NHRC guidelines for the Institutional Review Committees in Nepal. IRC-NNJS tries its best review for scientific and ethically sound proposals and provide ethical clearance to research proposals of researchers within the institution associated with this IRC only. IRC NNJS facilitate and recommend the national or international level research, externally sponsored/funded research, clinical trials involving human and/or animal participants to the ERB-NHRC for ethical clearance. 

  • To ensure unbiased ethical review of the proposed scientific and ethically sound research proposals and grant ethical approval of the studies.
  • To promote and facilitate the researches on ocular health in Nepal.
  • To ensure consistency in the supervision and monitoring of health-related research approved by IRC.
  • To protect the Rights, Safety, Dignity and Wellbeing of humans and animals involved in research.
