The Hiralal Santudevi Pradhan Institute of Ophthalmic Sciences (Bharatpur Eye Hospital, Bharatpur, Chitwan) was established in 1987 under Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS-National society for comprehensive eye care) with financial, technical and managerial support from BCCI foundation Pakisthan and SEVA Foundation, USA and SEVA Canada Society, Canada. Initially, it was established to provide eye care services in chitwan district but in the pursuit of growth and expansion and with the tremendous support from various international organization, relentless efforts and commitment put in, by its staff members and continued cooperation from local community, have made it possible for BEH today, to provide its qualitative eye care services beyond Chitwan district. Bharatpur eye hospital was established in 2044 BS and situated at Bharatpur- 10 ,likewise it has New OPD in city .It was established in 2067 BS. , at Bharatpur Hight. The hospital also provides services to remote people who could not able to come at Bharatpur through eye care service center at three remote places– kawasoti, Parsa, Madi.
Aim and Objective
To eliminate curable blindness from chitwan and neighbouring district by 2020.
To provide quality eye care services at minimum price
To provide services to poor and under privileged patient.
Coverage area 15 districts
Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhading, Gorkha, Makwanpur,, Lamjung, Bara, Parsa, Sarlahi, Rautahat, mahottari, Sankhuwasav, Taplejung, Tanahu, Dhankuta
Available Surgery: Phaco, SICS, DCR/DCT, Glaucoma, Pterygium graft, RD /Vitrectomy, Laser, Intravitreal Orjodex/ Avastin/ triamcinolone. |

Service Expansion
During the year, the hospital continued providing all its existing services including subspecialty services of Oculoplasty, Retina,and pediatric surgeries under General Anesthesia.
Academic Activities
Intermediate in Ophthalmic Science program is run under Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) collaborating with School of Health Science, Bharatpur.
Fellowship in VR is running.
During the year, Phaco training was offered to one ophthalmologist from Nepal Eye Hospital, Kathmandu.
