This hospital was established in 2043 (1987) as eye care center. Now this eye care center is upgraded as secondary eye hospital in 2070 (2013). Dr.Ram Prasad Pokhrel Eye Hospital, Dhankuta for providing comprehensive eye care services to the people of six remote hilly districts of Nepal. This is eastern hilly districts and headquarters of eastern development region; about 200 thousand population with mixed communities. The regional population size is about 6 million.
So, we think combating affection of emerging Eye problems. There is a needed to establish Secondary Eye Hospital in the Dhankuta to provide comprehensive eye services. And hospital's name has been finalized as the name of DR.RAMPRASAD POKHREL Eye Hospital Dhankuta.
Aim of Eye Hospital
a) To provide quality comprehensive eye care services to people of EDR of Nepal.
b) To develop quality health personnel Ophthalmic Assistant, Eye worker and Ophthalmic Nurse.

Visiting satellite clinic.
